Coping with the Election Results

Most people that I’ve known in the world of yoga are peace and love kind of people. So it’s a safe assumption that many of those who are reading this might be reeling this morning after Donald Trump was elected president of the United States. For me, it feels like a punch in the gut. Like hate won. Like society is devolving instead of evolving. It’s sad and scary.

What can we do when it feels like loving kindness and basic dignity have been rejected by half of the population? Well, we keep shining our light. Keep loving. Keep showing everyone you meet that ALL people are worthy of love and respect and should share the same rights.

Stay in the light. Stay connected to spirit and to each other. We don’t know what the future brings, so rather than despair or blame, let’s continue to move forward with positive energy. It may take awhile to recover from this shock, but we have big open hearts, open minds, and strong spirits. We will be OK.

Yes, all we can do is have faith that this is just part of the script where “the bad guys close in” but it’s meant to be followed by the happy ending because evil will never prevail…
