My name is Sandy Pradas (formerly Sandy Chute), and I’m the owner of Joyful Heart Yoga. As a serious yoga student, I am fascinated with the ability of yoga to make deep and lasting changes in people’s lives. My life’s path has brought me to this amazing intersection where I can combine my love of yoga, travel, and writing and share it with you.
I have been teaching yoga since 2001. I have a 200-hour certification from the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health and a 500-hour therapeutic yoga certification from the Pranakriya School of Yoga Healing Arts. I’m a member of the Kripalu Yoga Teacher’s Association and the International Association of Yoga Therapists. I am also a positional release therapist and a Reiki master. To me, yoga is not merely an exercise but a way to quiet the mind so you can live in the present moment and experience life with more richness, color, and meaning than ever before.
I’ve had the privilege of learning from some of the country’s most noted teachers, but I’m especially grateful to Naresh Ron King, Yoganand Michael Carroll, Tarika, Vidya Carolyn Dell’uomo, Stephen Cope, Lee Albert, and Marlysa Sullivan. I’ve learned a wealth of both eastern and western healing methods, which has enabled me to help people with a variety of issues, including neck and shoulder pain, repetitive movement injuries, migraines, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, hip, back, and knee pain, COPD, auto-immune disorders, cancer, past trauma, grief, stress, arthritis, osteoporosis, hip fracture, Parkinson’s, pre- & post-op, and more.
In my previous career I was a medical writer and researcher for 15 years, which has contributed tremendously to my work as a yoga teacher and therapist.
I also love to travel, and I’ve been fortunate to have taken over 20 groups of beautiful people of all ages on amazing journeys around the world. I put a lot of work into my retreats and vacations to create an environment where we can experience, enjoy, and learn at the same time. We have a great time, and our hosts often tell me that I’ve brought the most wonderful group of people with me. We are joyful hearts indeed!
